Finding Your Direction, Sept 2010
The summer has passed and fall is upon us. The changing color of the leaves isn’t far around the corner We are set to put the sails up again for new adventures. The harvest of our crops is plentiful and our prayers have been answered. We are looking forward to sharing our harvest with our friends and neighbors. I was fortunate to receive a gavel from the 04-05 Grand Family that was from our founder Rob Morris’s land. It was part of one of the trees they cut down. They made only so many gavels and I have one. What a privilege to have received this gift.
In September we will all be renewing our Obligation that we took at the altar during our initiation into our Order. One of the most important geometric figures in our Order is the Triangle. The equilateral Triangle is considered a perfect geometric figure as it is composed of three equal sides and three equal angles. Because of this, the Equilateral Triangle is considered to be the symbol of God- the only perfect Being. The three legs of the Triangle represent: 1. Gods almighty power 2. Gods all-embracing love 3. Gods all-knowing wisdom . There are many times we see the triangle in our work, when the flag is presented, the salutation sign, balloting at the altar, and formed by the Conductress and new members during the star point lectures are but a few of them. Through the formation of the triangle, we are asking for God’s guidance, God’s blessing on our work, and God’s inspiration in our lives.
As we left St. Cloud on Board the Spirit of Adventure in May, you were all invited to come aboard and share in our journey. When the end of July rolled around, we headed to Mackinac Island for adventure. We let the bus driver Greg use our compass to guide our trip. The sails were full and the wind strong to push us along. Our Tour Director, Tasha, had her hands full with our lively group. We had many laughs and a busy schedule for sight seeing, food and many stops along the way. The 2 days on Mackinac with horse drawn wagons and bicycles were a treat. People learned a lot about history and how the earlier settlers were treated. We reset the compass for home, which included a stop at the Music Factory where we learned about the piano, player pianos, old organs, and the wonderful sounds they could make. Our Journey was completed on August 1st. with smooth sailing across open waters on a Lake Michigan ferry. I told our Bus driver this compass will guide us to many destinations. We would like to thank all those who were able to join us on this venture, you made it memorable and a lot of fun. We look forward to having as many as possible join us in our travels. The door is always open.
May your compass always guide you safely to your destination.
